Garbage In, Garbage Out

Every cook knows that the quality of your ingredients will make a huge difference in what you prepare.

The General Manager of a sports team knows to hire the best players to win more games.

A contractor who uses inferior materials will construct inferior buildings.

The rock band, lead guitarist, who hires a bunch of friends who like to party, will not do as well as the one who hires good musicians.

Even God who was the first to understand the software programmer’s adage, “garbage in; garbage out” (He’s been saying that about the garbage of sin for millenniums) knew this truth for spiritual life.  Christians become what they plant.  7bA man reaps what he sows. 8 The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. (Galatians 6:7b,8).  If you, lady or gentlemen Christian sow “sinful nature” seed you will produce and reap a sinful nature harvest.  On the other hand, if you sow “godly nature” seed, you will produce and reap a harvest of eternal life and a better life now, too.

If your sinful nature has 1) more influence in your life than your godly nature or 2) if your sinful nature is used more by you in response to the world …. then you are sowing with your sinful nature.  If your sinful nature has that much control in your life, do not be surprised when from that nature will reap destruction…” (troubles, “bad blood,” and a self-centered heart, to mention a few).

Instead, sow your life with godly seed.  Because Jesus is Savior and Lord let your nature, your actions, your will, your heart, your thoughts, your emotions, and all that is you be sown with righteousness in mind.

In the near future there will be three more posts to expand this meditation.

Invade your normal world with the LORD.

Willfully sow Godly character.

Willfully sow the seed that you want to grow.
